Recommended Texts

These are the recommended textbooks. They offer the most concise, easy-to-read, reference for you that like to read a text. The web supplied with this course do not appeal to some. You may print out any of the notes if you wish, or save them to a file. In many cases the notes are more current than the texts.

Pathways to Pregnancy and Parturition 2nd Edition

Senger

This text is an excellent introductory text to basic reproductive physiology. It will be required for the introductory lectures. No notes will be provided for the introductory section to the course.

Canine and Feline Endocrinology

Feldman and Nelson

This text will probably be supplanted by the Johnston, Olson, Root text. I would not purchase it at this time.

Canine and Feline Theriogenology

Johnston, Root, Olson

The most comprehensive small animal reproduction book currently available.

Small Animal Theriogenology

Root

A very  comprehensive small animal reproduction book that is inexpensive.

Current Therapy in Large Animal Theriogenology

Younquist

A basic approach to many topics. It is good for basic learning, but lacks when you want to get deeper into things. A second edition is now out.

Equine
Reproduction

McKinnon

An Excellent equine text. This edition (Second - Red) came out in January 2011. It is expensive, but worth it if you are going to be doing equine reproduction.

Things to watch for in the notes:

If there is a discrepancy between the texts and notes, the notes will marked with an icon like this, indicating that we believe the information in the notes.

Have fun and enjoy the course!
